The Life of St. Marie Eugenet Milleret
This lecture honors the memory of Saint Marie Eugenie Milleret who was born Anne Eugenie Milleret in Metz, France in 1817. Her early life was a happy one. At the age of 12 she underwent a life altering experience of the grace of God while receiving her first holy communion. At 13 years of age her father lost all his money and her family was separated. Anne Eugenie then spent several difficult years living with different families. At the age of 19, moved by the preaching of the Dominican Father Lacordaire, Anne Eugenie decided to give her life to God. Together with four other young women, Anne Eugenie, now Marie Eugenie, founded the Religious of the Assumption at the Age of 22. Their mission was to be educators. Saint Marie Eugenie Milleret was born to eternal life on March 10, 1898. Members of her congregation continue her work today in 34 countries around the world.
